Despite the opposition of two thirds of Americans to his misadventure in Iraq, Bush continued to show intransigence by saying the US troops would not leave Iraq, the IRIB reports.
Without mentioning the murder of 655,000 Iraqis at the hands of his occupation forces who have plunged Iraq into violence and insecurity on the pretext of democracy, Bush in his radio message to the US nation, claimed in his usual unconvincing manner that if the US forces leave Iraq, those whom he calls terrorists will find a new shelter.
Earlier, General William Caldwell, spokesman for the US occupation forces in Iraq had said the operation to establish security in Baghdad has been a failure and there is need for adaptation of a new strategy.
Caldwell also interpreted the rising fatalities among American forces on the eve of Congress mid-term elections as a proof of Republicans' imminent defeat.
Bush tried to ignore expert advice and repeated the stereotyped remarks that the US goal in Iraq to gain victory remains unchanged and what is changing is how to reach this goal.
Bush also ignored the results of opinion polls, which show the American public's clear demand for the exit of US troops from Iraq. He alleged that the so-called terrorists intend to cause division among the American people and undermine what he said the American nation's resolve.
Meanwhile, according to a recent poll published by Newsweek, almost two third of Americans, i.e 60%, believe the US regime of Bush is losing its war in Iraq and has failed to establish security and democracy in that country.
According to the opinion poll, 54% of respondents believe Bush made a big mistake by invading Iraq while a mere 39% thought that invading and occupying Iraq was right.
On Saturday, a beleaguered Bush held talks with US army generals on the deteriorating situation in Iraq. During the meeting senior army generals suggested an immediate change in the US strategy in Iraq.
According to the opinion polls, 31% of US citizens believe that the Iraq crisis will be the most important topic of debate in the November 7th US congressional elections.
The poll also indicated that 55% of the respondents favor Democrats to take control of the Congress while only 32% intend to vote for the Republicans.
Bush's approval rating is at its lowest, 35%. This is while 57% of the US citizens are against him.
In other developments, on the eve of the US mid-term congressional elections, several books criticizing the US war on Iraq have been published.
The books condemn the US warmongering in Iraq and point to the repeated and blind measures by Bush government.
According to AFP the latest book is one by Washington Post writer Bob Woodard titled State of Denial.
Among other books in this connection is Open Failure by Thomas Rex, which stresses that the Bush regime had no specific plan for Iraq after toppling Saddam.
Former US diplomat Peter Gallbrip also has written a book criticizing the Bush regime's incorrect policies.
